Introduction

Tri-County Amateur Radio Association (TCARA) is located in Southern California, USA. We are one of the oldest Amateur Radio Clubs in the West. Some members claim that TCARA is the oldest club west of the Mississippi, and have Newsletters dating back to 1927 to prove it.

Communications is a very important part of our lives, and amateur radio is a very good example of how licensed citizens can coordinate efforts with Emergency Rescue and Law Enforcement. Tri-County Amateur Radio Association has a very active membership. We have experts in many areas of amateur radio, from DXing, building and modifying equipment, and Emergency Communications.

Amateur radio services can be very valuable to our local communities and local government agencies. During the Grand Prix fire of 2003, some of our members participated in providing their valuable talents as radio communicators, and assisted with many of the operations needed to battle the fire and aid the community.

Radio amateurs from all over the world keep in touch by setting daily schedules with other amateur radio operators around the world to exchange greetings, weather reports, and just to make new friends. TCARA has made it a goal to educate and guide newly licensed persons as well as those whom are interested in this great hobby.

All licensed radio amateurs are welcomed to TCARA. We currently hold a Sunday evening net and General Club meetings on the second Wednesday of every month. Unlicensed persons are also welcomed and encouraged to learn about this wonderful hobby of wireless radio communications. There are many members of TCARA that will help in meeting your needs in becoming a seasoned amateur radio operator.
