CHRISTMAS PARTY presented by TCARA. The Christmas Party was a success just like every year at the Home town Buffet.

Charles Brewer, KG6NID has been appointed as the Chairman of the Nominating Committee for the 2010 TCARA officers, plus he excepted the position of Vice President for 2010.

On this special day, there was a volunteer gift exchange and plenty of door prizes.

Our Special guest speaker  was Dick Norton, N6AA. He is the Director of the Southwestern Division ARRL. He was kind enough to sworn in our Officers for 2010.

We thank our members, none members and special guests for participating with all of us on this special day.

November 11, 2009 (Wed)

EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION, presented by Jim Porter, N6AJG. Jim was our speaker Wednesday night. He is the new LAX Section Emergency Coordinator. He was licensed in 1978 and have been active on HF, VHF and  UHF since then. He enjoys HF on 20 meters and love 10 meters when it is open. He has recently been on 6 meters with his Yaesu FT-897D and looks forward to more 6 meter contacts. He has 288 countries worked and 244 confirmed.

Jerry Krizek, WA6BSW member of TCARA, brought his Voltage Reference meter to the club meeting on November 11, Wednesday. It puts out 5.000VDC +/- .0025V. Any one that wanted to see how close their meter is at that voltage should bring it to the meeting.

How important a Balun and choke is to your antenna system, presented by Don Toomb, N6AFO presented a program, how important a Balun is to your antenna system plus why we need to use chokes on our electrical and antenna systems.

We also had show and tell, and bedded on a couple of old oscilloscopes and generators.

Plus recapping on Field day 2009 which was held on June 27-28, 2009.

Steven Smith, WA8LMF again demonstrated how he installed his converter box by connecting it to his small portable TV, and the use and benefits compared to cable and satellite TV and their channels.

A very good program speaker, thank you Steven.

This site was reserved for 2010.
